On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. ET, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee will convene for a Full Committee Legislative Hearing at the 360 Cannon House Office Building to discuss the "Toxic Exposure Fund Improvement Act of 2024."
Despite its misleading title, the proposed legislation, introduced by Republicans, aims to undermine the foundational principles of the Toxic Exposure Fund by rendering it discretionary rather than mandatory, imposing caps and sunset provisions, and stripping the fund of its rightful designation as the "Cost of War Toxic Exposure Fund." Such actions not only undermine the welfare of our nation’s veterans but also dishonor their sacrifices.
The Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO, staunchly opposes any amendments or attacks on the PACT and stands firm in support of our veterans. We refuse to stand idly by as House Republicans attempt to diminish the vital support provided by the Toxic Exposure Fund.
In solidarity with our member of Congress, Representative Chris Deluzio, who tirelessly advocates for veterans’ rights, we urge all members of the Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO, and concerned citizens to take action. We must make our voices heard and demand that the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee leadership reject the Toxic Exposure Fund Improvement Act of 2024.
Here's what you can do:
-
Call the Leadership: Contact the leadership of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and express your opposition to the Toxic Exposure Fund Improvement Act of 2024. Demand that they uphold their commitment to our veterans and reject this harmful legislation.
-
Spread the Word: Share this message with your fellow veterans, friends, family, and social networks. Encourage them to join us in our fight to protect the integrity of the Toxic Exposure Fund.
-
Stay Informed: Stay updated on developments regarding this legislation and other veterans’ issues. Knowledge is power, and the more informed we are, the better equipped we are to advocate for meaningful change.
Together, we can make a difference. Let’s stand united in defense of our veterans and ensure that they receive the support and respect they deserve.
